American Jewish University

The American Jewish University in Los Angeles, California, is a university for the entire community. Although it's a predominantly Jewish university, non-Jews are just as welcome to learn about the history, traditions, and languages of Judaism while also earning undergraduate or graduate degrees. The core curriculum at the university emphasizes ethical values and how to put them into action, especially by engaging with the world firsthand through internships and co-circular activities. Experiential learning and service learning are also major components of the curriculum. The university provides nontraditional academic programs, like the Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies and the Ziering Institute (Holocaust studies). In addition, the university contains two think tanks designed to get students involved in promoting a greater understanding of the state of Israel (Center for Israel Studies) and exploring ethical and religious implications of the Holocaust (Sigi Ziering Institute). Bachelor's degrees offered at the university include: * Bioethics and Natural Sciences * Business * Global Studies * Intergroup Relations and Conflict * Jewish Studies * Liberal Studies * Literature, Communication, and Media * Political Science * Psychology * U.S. Politics, Law, and Public Policy Master's degrees in Nonprofit Management and Jewish Education are also offered. All freshmen and sophomore students under 21 years of age are required to live on campus. Financial aid is available through the FAFSA, and the school offers various merit scholarships as well to those who qualify.
