Art Academy Of Cincinnati

Founded in 1869, the Art Academy of Cincinnati has a long tradition of excellence in art education. It is still considered one of the finest art academies in the country today, emphasizing innovation, personalized instruction and individual freedom and growth. Part of the Art Academy of Cincinnati’s success is due to its intimate learning environment. The school maintains a low student-to-faculty ratio, keeping its enrollment small as well to promote more personalized attention. The school’s academics currently include BFA and MAAE (Master of Arts in Art Education) programs. The four-year BFA program offers a variety of majors, from Art History to Visual Communication Design. The MAAE program, which takes three to five years to complete, is designed for licensed teachers to expand their horizons. MAAE coursework occurs during the summer. The admissions process at AAC is similar to that of other art colleges. In addition to an application, personal statement and letters of recommendation, you must submit a portfolio containing 10 to 12 pieces of your best work. Specific requirements for the portfolio are listed on the Academy’s website. The Art Academy of Cincinnati offers financial aid to eligible students. Scholarships are based on your portfolio, GPA and test scores, and are renewable for four years. The school also participates in state and federal aid programs.
