As a charity, since 1992 they’ve been working to help ensure that women in Wales can enter the workplace, develop their skills and build rewarding careers. They do this because women entering and progressing at work face a number of barriers that specifically hinder their career paths. These include the gender pay gap, rigid workplace practices that are out of kilter with the demands of modern life, a continued expectation that caring is primarily a woman’s role, the persistence of gender stereotypes and the significant underrepresentation of women in senior roles in both the public and private sectors.
