CMI Insurance Company Limited (CMI) is the name of Scottish Widows’ specialist offshore insurance company. Scottish Widows is one of the longest established providers in the UK and part of the Lloyds Banking Group, one of the largest financial services groups in Europe. CMI was set up in 1987 and has more than 25 year’s offshore expertise. It was one of the first life assurance companies to set up an offshore operation in the Isle of Man. Over the last 25 years it has played a major influential role in shaping the Isle of Man finance industry and promoting best practice. The Isle of Man is a long established and respected international finance centre and has independent regulators separate to the UK. It has introduced a number of new investment and taxation vehicles intended to enhance the island’s standing as one of the leading offshore jurisdictions.
