Covered California

Covered California is an easy-to-use marketplace implementing the federal Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act in California. It enables its users to compare affordable, quality health insurance options and choose the one that best fits their needs and budget. Covered California also provides financial assistance to make its client’s health coverage more affordable. It is a part of the state of California. Covered California also offers a special-enrollment option for those who experience a life-changing event, including getting married, having a child or moving. Its mission is to increase the number of Californians with health insurance, improve the quality of health care for all, reduce health care coverage costs, and make sure California's diverse population has fair and equal access to quality health care. More than 1.3 million Californians chose health insurance through Covered California during its historic first open-enrollment period, for coverage in 2014. Covered California was created in 2010 and is headquartered in California.
