Disasters Emergency Committee

Disasters Emergency Committee brings together 13 U.K. aid agencies to raise money at times of humanitarian crisis in poorer countries. By working together it raises more money to save lives and rebuilds shattered communities. The U.K. aid agencies that Disasters Emergency Committee brings together include Action Aid, Age International, British Red Cross, CAFOD, CARE International, Christian Aid, Concern Worldwide, Islamic Relief, Oxfam, Plan UK, Save the Children, Tearfund, and World Vision. It alerts the Rapid Response Network, a unique alliance of the U.K.’s corporate and broadcasting sectors, to reach the British people through all channels of the media. Disasters Emergency Committee has run 65 appeals and helped to save millions of lives and rebuild communities devastated by disasters. It was formed in 1963 and is based in London, England.
