At Eastern University, a four-year Christian school in Wayne, Pennsylvania, you will find academics, activities and opportunities that embody a true commitment to social justice and diversity. Examples of Eastern’s academic diversity can be seen in its list of majors, which include: *Accounting *Astronomy *Biblical Studies *Gender Studies *Literature *Missions and Anthropology *Nursing *Social Work *Theatre There is also an accelerated degree program for adults, a school of ministry and a graduate school. Eastern also maintains a commitment to fostering student diversity, offering programs specifically for minorities. One of these is a mentorship program for any non-Caucasian student. Also available is the Summer Research Opportunity Program, which provides a tuition fellowship for a minority student to undertake research at Northwest University. The Leadership Fellows Program is an example of Eastern’s commitment to social justice. Students in this program provide service to communities in need through mentorship and other means related to their academic major. Eastern’s social justice theme can also be seen in its student organizations. Included among these is a group that serves disabled children, a tutoring organization, Habitat for Humanity, a Christian drama club dedicated to social change and a prison ministry. There are also clubs that raise money for Kenya and other third-world countries. Since Eastern seeks students who wish to be leaders in the social justice movement, the admissions department requires that applicants show some evidence of leadership skills through community service and other activities. In addition to its fellowship programs, Eastern may also award other types of financial aid to eligible students.
