Garrett College

Garrett College in McHenry, Maryland is probably best known for offering one of the few degrees in adventure sports. At Garrett one can also get degrees in Natural Resources and Wildlife Technology, Culinary Arts, Business and Information Technology, Education and Juvenile Justice. Professional certificate programs are also available at Garrett. So that these and other programs might be accessible to more students, Garrett was one of the first community colleges to provide on-campus housing. Student life at Garrett provides social as well as practical and academic opportunities. Services are comprehensive and include a tutoring and writing center, health services, counseling and career and transfer services. Tuition at Garrett is lower for in-state residents than for non-residents. Financial aid options include a scholarship for GED completers, federal work-study, student loans and grants for those who qualify. All students must fill out an application for admission, and those who plan to enroll in a degree program must take placement tests.
