Lexum

Lexum is a software company that designs and operates online legal information delivery products. We specialize in the management and the publishing of legal information over the internet. The company is well known for its impact on the Canadian legal sector, where it began operating in 1993 by collaborating with the Supreme Court of Canada to publish the Court’s decisions on the internet. Since then, Lexum has had the opportunity to provide a wide range of consulting, design, development, hosting and support services for many North American legal institutions, including Canada’s Department of Justice, the Judiciary of Arkansas, and the New Mexico Compilation Commission, to name only a few. Lexum’s most well-known undertaking is undoubtedly the services it provides to the Canadian Legal Information Institute (CanLII) with respect to the design, development and operation of the publishing platform and activities of the CanLII website: www.canlii.org Today, Lexum’s clients include public bodies and private entities operating in all sorts of environments and industries around the globe. They range from judicial institutions, legislatures, agencies, bar associations, unions, international organizations, private publishers, law firms and more. Lexum was founded by Prof. Daniel Poulin as a research lab at the University of Montreal and became a privately-owned business after a spin-off in 2010. In 2018 Lexum was acquired by CanLII, a non-profit organization controlled by the Federation of Law Societies of Canada.
