All programs at MJI are, first and foremost, based in the liberal arts, with all students taking a certain number of courses in the humanities and related subject areas. All courses at Michigan Jewish Institute are rooted in the religious and cultural teachings of Judaism. Those who want to focus more closely on these teachings may pursue a degree in Judaic Studies, Judaic Leadership or Judaic Education. MJI also awards bachelor’s degrees that prepare students for careers in: *Business *Computer Information Systems *Cooperative Computing While at MJI, students may get involved with the local Jewish community. Synagogues, Yeshivas and Jewish Community Centers may all be found throughout Detroit and the metropolitan area. Those seeking admission to MJI must have a high school diploma or GED. A minimum grade point average of 2.0 is also required. However, those with a GPA below 2.0 may still be admitted provisionally. Students who require financial aid may apply for such federal aid sources as loans, grants and work-study. Institutional scholarships may also be awarded and may need to be applied for separately. MJI’s financial aid counselors can discuss other financial aid options with interested students as well.
