Northwestern State University of Louisiana offers a range of degree programs and career preparation options in the culturally rich atmosphere of Natchitoches, Louisiana. With a medium-sized student body, NSU’s size is just big enough to make for a rich academic and cultural life, but small enough to maintain individual attention. NSU offers more than 50 degree programs through several distinctive colleges. These include the schools of nursing, science and technology, education and the arts. Within these departments one can get bachelor’s degrees in such unique fields as Creative and Performing Arts. There is also a graduate school and the Louisiana Scholars College. NSU also offers a two-year degree associate’s degree for those wishing to transfer to another four-year university. The Center for Counseling and Career Services hosts job fairs and helps students to clarify career goals, improve decision-making skills and refine job-search strategies. Personal counseling is also available. On-campus housing options include dormitories and family housing for married students with children. Financial aid is available in the form of grants, work-study, scholarships and loans for students who qualify.
