Founded in 2008 with a powerful vision to infuse new life into the fashion system, NJAL serves as a critical platform for over 40,000 designers to date, working to empower emerging voices and facilitate industry exposure at no cost while simultaneously providing an indispensable tool for the industry. As the largest global network of contemporary fashion designers, NOT JUST A LABEL (NJAL) has access to 4 million styles designed by over 40,000 independent and emerging creatives, totalling a GMV exceeding $1bn. In Summer 2020, as a response to a global pandemic, NJAL launched a B2C marketplace with over 10,000 SKUs that can be personalised, tailor-made and will be delivered directly by the designers – therefore giving creative entrepreneurs equitable access to retail their designs across a global landscape. By bypassing the middlemen, NJAL has reacted to a global crisis that requires a new strategy in fashion: unique, sustainable and ethically manufactured merchandise, hand-made by artisans and directly delivered – to provide a capital light and highly profitable sales channel, thus saving a generation of emerging designers that have been impacted by the downfall of the brick-and-mortar retail sector.
