Optretina

OPTretina is a network of opticians, optometrists, and ophthalmologists that helps people know if they have a problem in their eyes. It is committed to working towards the prevention of blindness by offering access to an affordable test for the entire population. Patients go through a 3-minute process which consists of patient anamnesis, retinal images, image assessment, and report delivery. Some basic information is collected such as gender, age, diabetes, and intraocular pressure; the reason for the consultation; medical history; and other information that might be relevant. With the non-mydriatic camera, the pictures of the back of the eye are taken in a dark room. A team of retina experts receive the cases randomly and they write the medical report. If the doctor observes any sign of abnormality, the patient receives clear instructions or recommendations on how to proceed. The healthcare provider downloads and prints out the medical report and then delivers it along with any clarification or explanation that might be required for the patient to understand the medical terminology.
