Jewish Hospital ancient origins provide the institution with firm and deep roots, which have contributed to the organization history and created the circumstances for its progress over time. The goal was to provide a minimum of private health care to the roman jewish people, based on the laws for ghetto confinement and hospital access at the time. It should be mentioned that the island has traditionally been regarded as a significant religious site, with the added benefit of possessing medicinal properties. On the island, a famous temple of aesculapius was built. The fusion of several jewish groups and brotherhoods improved the care and support for jews in need.
