Principia College

A school that regards the world as its classroom, Principia College in Elsah, Illinois offers a unique approach to academics and learning. While Principia offers traditional bachelor’s degrees in fields like Art, English, Education, Geology, Religion, Sociology and Theatre, students also have the option to combine several fields of study, create their own major, or even take courses of interest at another school. Additionally, Principia students frequently venture outside of the classroom, often to places abroad, to undertake research and work on projects. Community is also important at Principia, and since the student population is deliberately kept small it’s easy to get to know fellow students. Through various student organizations, students also have the chance to participate together in activities of mutual interest. Another part of student life is Principia’s speaker series, which hosts lectures by renowned politicians, authors, actors and scholars. Principia has a rolling admissions policy, but encourages students to submit their applications early so that they may be considered for scholarships and other forms of financial aid.
