Sil International

SIL International is a non-profit organization that studies, documents, and assists in developing the world’s lesser-known languages. The organization’s staff shares a Christian commitment to service, academic excellence, and professional engagement through literacy, linguistics, translation, and other academic disciplines. SIL International makes its services available to all without regard to religious belief, political ideology, gender, race, or ethnic background. It offers training in fields of study that support language development such as linguistics, literacy and multilingual education, anthropology, translation, and learner-directed language and culture learning. SIL International was founded in 1934 and is based in Dallas, Texas.
