At Southeast Illinois College (SIC), students can get an academic or professional degree from a range of departments, each of which features academic student organizations and some of which even reward scholarships. Located in Harrisburg, Illinois, SIC’s associate degrees are granted in highly diverse subject areas designed either for college transfer or for career preparation. Some examples of majors include: *Sound and Media Arts *Theatre *Music *Cosmetology *Practical Nursing *Carpentry *Information Technology *Philosophy *Social Sciences Departmental student organizations provide students an opportunity to meet others in their major while expanding their professional, academic and leadership skills. Several departments also provide scholarships for those who show evidence of talent and academic merit. Students may also apply for federal financial aid, which is awarded mainly based on financial need and could include loans, grants and work-study. Since SIC is an open-enrollment school, any student with a high school diploma or GED may enroll simply by filling out an application form and submitting transcripts. Students may also need to take a placement exam for general education classes like English and Math.
