Genesee Community College

Genesee Community College is a standard community college in many ways, but more like a university in others. Located in Batavia, New York, Genesee is a well-established college and is part of the respected State University of New York (SUNY) system. Associate’s degrees at Genesee may be obtained in such professional and in-demand fields as: * Business * Computers and Technology * Criminal Justice * Healthcare For those who have a more academic or creative interest, there are also liberal and creative arts majors such as: * Digital Art * Musical Theatre * Theatre Technology Student life is another aspect of Genesee that is similar to a university. A performing arts center on the Genesee campus gives students the chance to perform in plays and music and dance events. There are also dozens of special interest, academic and cultural student clubs. Entertainment is also offered regularly on the Genesee campus, including a weekly event featuring musical, comedy and other types of talent. Those interested in applying for admission will need to submit an application along with transcripts or a copy of their GED. Students then take a placement exam to determine which level Math and English courses they should take. Interviews and tours of the school are encouraged as well. Genesee has generous financial aid packages and provides millions in aid every year. Need-based aid consists of federal and state grants, work-study and loans. There are also scholarships, which are usually awarded for excellent academic performance.
