Telecom Plus PLC, which trades as Utility Warehouse (UW), is an award-winning FTSE 250 company that provides your energy, broadband, mobile, landline, and home insurance. UW is the UK’s only genuine multiservice provider, offering all essential home services in one, great value, monthly bill. The more services customers bundle, the more they can save. Telecom Plus established Utility Warehouse in 2002 to encompass its residential energy, telephony, and broadband offerings. Since the business was established, the company has grown to include mobile telephone, insurance products, as well as a cashback card for UW customers to earn as they spend. The cashback card, which can be used in-store and online with over 2,000 participating retailers, can help customers earn up to 7% cash back on their purchases. Over the past two decades, Utility Warehouse has grown due to the power of word of mouth. The company has a network of highly-motivated, independent distributors - or UW Partners - that recommend UW to family, friends and people they know. Although they work for themselves, UW Partners are given training, support, and marketing materials to meet their goals, as well as helpful events like the annual Power Up conference to hone their skills. Today, UW is helping 650,000 customers to save time and money on their home services, and giving over 45,000 Partners the freedom to earn income in their own time and on their own terms. With the effects of the coronavirus pandemic in the UK, the UW Partner opportunity has taken on more importance as Utility Warehouse tries to help British people get back on their feet by either topping up or replacing lost earnings. UW’s Mission Utility Warehouse aims to help make its customers’ lives simpler by saving them time and money on their home services – and help its UW Partners achieve their personal and financial goals. The North London head office is home to over 1,400 employees who apply their talents to a wide range of roles. These include IT and operations, people and culture, customer service, marketing, and Partner-focused roles. Utility Warehouse champions diversity, rewards performance and provides a safe, supportive and exciting working environment for all employees. An award-winning business, UW is well-regarded across the home services industry. Since the company’s formation nearly 20 years ago, Utility Warehouse has won dozens of awards.. In 2018 and 2020, UW was awarded the prestigious Which? Utilities Brand of the Year Award. This award recognises UW as the best overall utilities provider in the market. UW has also won numerous awards from leading consumer champions, including Uswitch, Moneywise, and the UW service has been awarded five stars by Defaqto. UW Backstory Charles Wigoder joined Telecom Plus in 1998 and worked to get the company listed on the London Stock Exchange. He saw the opportunity to build a business supplying communications and energy services to the mass residential market, with a low-cost route to market via the UW Partner route. Though Charles is still chairman of the company, Utility Warehouse is currently led by its CEO, Andrew Lindsay, MBE. Prior to joining UW, Lindsay was part of the British rowing team that won gold at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. After retiring from competitive rowing, he worked for Goldman Sachs and Ryness Electrical before joining Telecom Plus and UW in 2007. In November 2021, Stuart Burnett was promoted to co-CEO from the position of COO. The UW Foundation In 2020, the UW Foundation was established to make more of the good that it does for communities across the UK. The Foundation aims to help the environment, disadvantaged groups and support the NHS to fight coronavirus. By the end of March 2021, Utility Warehouse will fund the planting of 100,000 new trees in a woodland the size of 100 Wembley Stadiums, on Bryn Arw in the Brecon Beacons. These trees were specially chosen as they are native broadleafs and they will absorb 20,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide. The UW Foundation also works with Ocean Generation (formerly Plastic Oceans UK), as well as other chosen charities on fundraising initiatives with both Partners and employees and matches every pound raised.
