Vermont College of Fine Arts in Montpelier, Vermont, offers unique, low-residency graduate programs in the visual, performing and literary arts. Vermont College of Fine Arts awards MFA programs in a range of artistic disciplines, including: * Graphic Design * Music Composition * Visual Art * Writing for Children and Young Adults Vermont College of Fine Arts also offers an MFA in Creative Writing that Poets and Writers magazine recently ranked as the best low-residency writing program in the country. Low-residency education is ideal for those who have full-time jobs or who live in a geographical area outside of Vermont. Students undertake most of their work independently, going to the Vermont campus one or more times per year to check in with professors and fellow students. Admission requirements vary from one department to another. Applicants to all departments must submit creative materials. All applicants also need to submit an application, with a fee, as well as two letters of recommendation, an essay of artistic intent and an artistic resume. Vermont College of Fine Arts awards federal Plus and Stafford loans to students who meet eligibility requirements. Eligibility requirements include financial need and one’s status with The Department of Education. Those in default on a loan or those who money on a grant, for example, do not qualify for these loans.
