Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio, is a small Lutheran college that offers rigorous liberal arts and professional academics in a tightly knit community of top-performing students. Those who are admitted to Wittenberg are most often at the top of their high school class. Given this level of scholarship and intellect among its students, it’s not surprising that Wittenberg’s academics offer the highest intellectual challenge to students. Collaboration is a crucial part of the Wittenberg experience, with many classes conducted as small, intimate discussions and students regularly engaging in collaborative projects. Activities outside of class also support a high level of scholarship and collaboration, with centers devoted to such fields as Civic and Urban Engagement and East Asian Studies giving students, faculty and community opportunities to expand their understanding of such disciplines. Academic majors and minors include subjects in the Arts and Humanities such as Art, Creative Writing, Foreign Languages, International Studies, Psychology, Religion, Russian Studies and Theatre. At Wittenberg there is also the option of a dual-degree program, with courses taken both at Wittenberg and at such prestigious universities as Duke, Columbia and Johns Hopkins. Collaborative majors include Engineering, Environmental Studies, Nursing and Occupational Therapy. Pre-professional programs in Dentistry, Law, Medicine, Physical Therapy and others are also available. With over 120 student organizations to choose from, students may take the collaborative spirit of Wittenberg into their student life activities as well. Upon applying for admissions, all students are automatically considered for a Wittenberg merit scholarship. Other sources of financial aid may also be available to those who qualify.
